I mentioned in the Southwest that Doodle feels like Grandma exists for her alone. Therefore, regardless of our room arrangements, Doodle and Grandma share a bed. It's just understood. Well, Doodle is a light sleeper and the only way she'll go to sleep is if the room around her is also going to sleep. That means my poor mom has lights out by 7:30pm tired or not. We've had this running joke that Grandma has been so naughty she has to go to bed early. I'd like to note that as the road trip progresses, we adults are ready for bed at 7:30pm anyway. Did I mention that Doodle is an early riser, too?
Tomcat and I went out on a date in Seward so we put all 3 kiddos to bed in Grandma's room. When we got back of course all the lights were off. Our goal was to sneak a sleeping Little Man back to our room, but we couldn't find Grandma. This was a tad alarming until we heard her whispering from behind the bathroom door, "In here! In here!" Tomcat was nervous to walk in on her in the loo, but I pushed open the door only to find her reading in the bathtub! It was absolutely hilarious! My poor poor mom, escaping to a hard, cold bathtub just so she didn't have to go to bed!
This is once again a testament to the kind of traveler Grandma is. She goes with the flow, never complains, is game for anything and enjoys it all. I couldn't ask for a better traveling companion!
