Glen Falls

Grandma wanted to stay in the car because of the wind, but I told her, "Look, this is why we're here, at this time of year. Everyone will ask you about it." She's a good sport so we all got out and went through


the tunnel under the road to a nature wonderland. This hike, at this time of year was absolutely gorgeous! We walked right along the Ellis River to Glen Falls. And once we were down far enough, the wind ceased and all you could hear were the birds and the trees rustling. Well, that's a tad idealistic...everyone in the White Mountains could hear my kids for miles.

On our way back, Peanut started giggling, "Mom, Little Man doesn't know where his shoe is!" I said, "What?" looking down at his muddy socked foot. I looked at his perplexed little face and said, "What do you mean? You really don't know where it is?" We all started searching. Grandma found it first, buried deep in the mud, quickly filling with water and leaves. He'd run right out of it while trying to avoid a puddle. Now he knows that off-trail, a smooth layer of leaves just might be hiding a sink hole!
