Wildcat Mountain beckoned. The ski resort hosts an enclosed gondola during the off season which takes you to the summit. They also have a ZipRider and if Tomcat had been here we would have done it. But I was too paranoid to go alone and have all 3 kids potentially witness my death without their dad around.
And once we got to the top, I quickly remembered why I don't
ski black diamond slopes, and I was glad I'd passed on the Zip this time. In about 15 minutes, we we were at the summit and The White Mountains were a beautiful sight; I can't imagine what the view must be like on a clear day. An extremely helpful man at the post office told me New Hampshire gets the least amount of sun in the U.S. -- only 85 sunny days a year. Does that surprise you like it did me?
Well, I can say with certainty that today we were the only lunatics up on top of that mountain -- drizzle and the first snow kept the sane people at home by the fire. We absolutely froze in our inappropriate clothes, but it was well worth it. We had a ball!
Dinner at Libby's Bistro made everything toasty again.
that last pic with the sun shining through the trees is gorgeous!
