Back in Colorado, a man had told us about the Cass Railway and the New River Gorge (see Durango Rail post) in West Virginia. The train starts operating in June, so we'll miss that, but the gorge was impressive; I can only imagine the views in autumn.
The bridge is over 800 feet tall, the 2nd tallest in the U.S. Most people come here to enjoy the whitewater rafting options in the New River below. I can see us doing that somewhere down the road!
For now we took a hike as low as possible by boardwalk -- a 300 step round trip -- which wiped us out after the cave descent yesterday!
I know you think Little Man looks like you but really it is Doodle. The nose, smile, chin. And, most noticeably, the spark in her eyes.
