Jelly Belly Factory

So, what a treat to see Sis and her husband! I haven't seen them in well over a year and despite the fact that she flicked my underarm fat in public, it was great to see her. In a continuous effort to sway Little Man over to the Green Bay Packers, her husband handed him a new green football. Instant friends again.

Sis had a jabber-fest to catch me up on her empty nest life and the lives of each of her kids. She got to see mine in action and catch up with them directly! We had a short visit, but a good one.
I'd bet not many sisters meet at the Jelly Belly Factory, but for us it seemed perfectly natural, Sugar Lovers that we are!

Let's suffice it to say that the Jelly Belly Factory is a Sugar Lover's dream. They use 30 large elephant's worth of sugar, each day, to make these little treasures!

Doodle walked around saying, "Know what I mean, Jelly Bean?" Peanut went around choosing two of this and 6 of that to put into her little bag. Little Man was on a false sugar high before we ever even got into the store!

This spot isn't actually the factory. (It's in San Fransisco.) So, they take you on a cute little train around the warehouse, to watch the candy-making process on large video monitors and show these really amazing
pictures of actual Jelly Belly murals! The entire thing was clever and interesting, and perfectly short.

Most importantly, now I understand why Jelly Bellies are so damn good: they flavor the candy shell and the inside goo. mmmm.

  3. Wow, it looks like this was a great week for candy factory tours. We just went through the theo chocolate factory in Fremont and I was sugared out. Have you been? The kids loved it and I was very impressed. We are really missing you and Amaya said she wants a playdate with peanut as soon as she gets home!

    Lots of love ... -M
