Where we're heading next:

Home Sweet Home

Quote of the Day

Peanut, "Wow, mom, now we can say we've been to all 50 states! What are we gonna do next?"

Childish Antics

It took us all day to get here which has me a little concerned about the even longer stretch to North Dakota. I’ll have to keep my wanna-check-it-outs to a minimum. On long drives with my mom as a kid (where were we going?), she used to say, “Uh oh, I’m starting to see monkeys dancing on the side of the road.” Now I get it. After about 6 hours at the wheel, my eyes start to get blurry. The days of driving all night to save on hotels are long gone.

Peanut has decided she loooooves long drives because she gets to see so much nature and read her Cat Warrior books.

Little Man can handle about 5 hours and 15 minutes. Beyond that he starts making up his own words to everyone else’s songs, which gets them perfectly riled up. He also starts in with bugging the girls from behind their seats.

Doodle is going to be the end of me. She begs for her cd and she begs to put her window down. She asks for gum and lip-gloss and dental floss. Her latest trick is to climb into her car seat and get upside down before I can say boo. I have to physically flip her around which is no easy task and scrunch her and hold her just to get her buckled. She really thinks she’s hilarious and it’s going to be the end of me. I try so hard not to make a big deal about her antics, knowing they’ll pass more quickly if I ignore her. Luckily, I’ve been through power trips before, and I know that age 3 does eventually turn into 4.

  1. Ok, I just know what this trip would be like with my little man...remember you and I have always agreed 3 is way worse than the so-called terrible 2's? I will say my prayers that Doodle calms down for you! I miss you and think of you all and niece every day!!

  2. 5 hours and 15 minutes is a long time to go before bothering others. You all are doing just fine:)
We will have to keep our eyes out for ospreys and their nests on our way to Montana.
    Happy road tripping!

  3. I think Niece was the same age when she took a coat hanger to her Mother's new van in Orem. Rock On!
